Upcoming System Conversion and Integration of HealthSmart’s Direct Owned Networks
In the fall of 2007, HealthSmart Holdings, Inc. (“HealthSmart”) acquired the Interplan Health Group companies, which included the following provider networks: Interplan Health Group, Inc. (“IHG”), the Emerald Health Network, Inc. (“EHN”), Preferred Plan, Inc. (“PPI”), Health Payors Organization, LP (“HPO”), and HealthSmart National Network, Inc. (formerly Superien Health Network). Over the past several months, HealthSmart has been working on a corporate initiative to integrate our provider data and repricing services across all networks into a single common system while also preparing to merge our direct primary networks into HealthSmart Preferred Care II, LP, a preferred provider network formed by HealthSmart nearly two decades ago.
During the next 13 months, as our various provider networks are merged, the names and logos of IHG, EHN and PPI will be changing to reflect a common HealthSmart Preferred Care primary network name and logo. Effective July 1, 2011, for any new business or upon existing client renewals, all clients will be asked to update their member Identification (ID) Cards to reflect the new HealthSmart Preferred logo. HPO will remain unchanged. During this transition period, our participating providers will be asked to continue to accept members with ID Cards displaying either the legacy IHG, EHN and PPI logos or the new HealthSmart Preferred logo through July 1, 2012.
The upcoming system conversion and network integration will enhance HealthSmart’s ability to offer you a national seamless integrated PPO network for both Group Health and Workers Compensation. This may result in some changes in the EOB language, provider demographic files and eligibility files. Additional information on these upcoming changes will be communicated during the next several weeks.
