COORDINATION OF BENEFITS

HealthSmartRx will enroll members as having primary or secondary prescription plan coverage. When a pharmacist fills a prescription, benefits from multiple prescription plans are coordinated at the pharmacy counter. In order for a pharmacy or pharmacist to coordinate benefits, members must present relevant plan information or ID cards. The pharmacist can submit both the primary and secondary claim electronically at the point of sale. At that point, members only pay the remaining amount not covered by their multiple prescription plans. The result is that members pay the minimum at the counter.

In addition, HealthSmartRx fully supports FSA, HRA and HSA plans. Coordination of Benefits includes processing prescription medications through these plans.
